1. What can I do to optimise the functionality of my 11s drivetrain? There is a series of small operations that can optimise the functionality of the 11s drivetrain. These are summarised in the technical bulletin here published.
7. Do the Campagnolo 11s groupsets have a sprocket set with the 29, or do they stop at 27? In the 2010 range, also the 12/29 sprocket set combination has been introduced.
8. What does "Cult" mean? Cult represents the evolution that Campagnolo has impressed on the concept of ceramic ball bearings. It is the acronym for Ceramic Ultimate Level Technology.
9. Can an 11s 12/29 sprocket set be mounted on a 2009 range 11s groupset? It depends. For complete answers please consult the technical bulletin published here.
10. I wanted to know the complete scale of sprocket sets available for the Athena 11s groupset. I also wanted to know if the offer includes a combination that includes the 29? To view the complete sequence of all the sprocket sets, please visit the spare parts section of our website. Keep in mind that Athena will use the Chorus sprocket sets.
Yes, in the 2010 range we have introduced a ^ top ^
11. Having a cassette with 11 gears, is it possible to obtain one with the tooth-tooth scale from 11 to 21? Campagnolo sprocket sets are the result of in-depth studies, research, and testing, aimed at guaranteeing the best functionality of the product. In fact there is a coupling with synchronism between each sprocket and the next in order to allow the passage of the chain from one sprocket to another in the fastest and most precise way.
As you can also see from our Spare Parts Catalogue, which you can download on-line, all the sprockets are marked with dedicated symbols to guarantee the synchronisation or phasing of shifting.
Changing the order of composition of the sprocket sets or combining the sprockets freely would jeopardise the functionality characteristics of the drivetrain system. It is possible, on the other hand, to purchase single or paired sprockets but only to replace the same ones and to fit them in the same position.
12. Is it possible to use the Ergobrain of the Record 10s on 11-speed groupsets? We're sorry, the Ergobrain is not compatible with the 11-speed groupsets.
13. Is the Record Ultra Torque 10s crankset compatible with an 11s groupset? As is, it is not compatible, but it can be reused provided that you replace both gears and fit those designed for the 11s drivetrain.
17. I have to carry out the annual maintenance on my Record 10s groupset. Can I fit the bearings of the Super Record 11s on caps that are not Super Record? All the bearings for ultra-torque cranksets are dimensionally compatible. The Super Record 11s crankset uses CULT technology for the bearings, which are lubricated with oil and exploit all their characteristics of smoothness only when combined with the respective caps that have a special surface finish and do not have the 2 internal gaskets (OC-RE002) used on the caps for standard bearings. If used with normal caps, the performance will be limited by the friction produced by the presence of the 2 gaskets, which have the purpose of preserving the NON-CULT bearings, as well as the fact that they could rust prematurely. If, instead, your mechanic has used grease to lubricate the CULT bearings, the performance of the CULT technology will be neutralised, making the expense useless.
18. When trying to disassemble the gears of a Campagnolo 11S carbon crankset, the torx wrench doesn't fit in the screw on the pedal crank. Is a special wrench needed, and where can you buy it? In the latest generation of cranksets, an anti-tampering insert has been applied to the central screw of the pedal crank. If you need to open the screw, you have to break it. Once it's broken, you can insert the torx wrench that is commercially available.
19. What does the abbreviation X.P.S.S on the new 2011 11s gears mean? It means eXtreme Performance Shifting System, which indicates the new geometry of the gears for better shifting performance.
