Ivan Basso in the pink jersey, David Arroyo second, and Vincenzo Nibali in third place, together formed an
all-Campagnolo podium..
The 93rd Giro d'Italia has concluded, and it was one of the most wide-open and spectacular races of the last several years.
It was a tough race with plenty of dramatic twists and turns, from the muddy "white roads" of Tuscany to the driving rain of L'Aquila, from the revolution in the classification after stage 11 to the snow-covered landscape of the Passo del Gavia.
Emotion, toil, sweat, mud, rain, and snow: the riders encountered it all before entering the famous Arena of Verona packed with people.
Campagnolo played a winning hand, three-of-a-kind, monopolising the entire podium of the Giro with a demonstration of outstanding reliability and performance.
Ivan Basso of the Liquigas-Doimo team won the pink jersey following a run-up that lasted for 19 stages.
Arriving second was David Arroyo, the Spanish rider from the Caisse d'Epargne team.
In third place was Vincenzo Nibali, Messina native and Basso's Liquigas-Doimo teammate.
But Campagnolo also wants to congratulate all the teams that participated in this year's Giro: Bouygues - Telecom, BMC Racing, Caisse d'Epargne, Lampre - Farnese, Katusha, Colnago CSF Inox, Omega Pharma/Lotto, and Quick Step.
Because this was the race that all the fans had been waiting for a long time, and the merit goes not only to the winners but also to the many riders who showed enormous commitment and strength.
