Special Ergopower shifter

Ergopower shifters for professional teams sponsored by Campagnolo will have red lettering on the supports. The reason? To distinguish them from standard shifters. Campagnolo has in fact received a precise request from professional racers for Ergopower shifters needing harder effort for the 2008 season. Professionals prefer stiffer, crisper shifting. They prefer a shifter that calls for greater strength and decision. A shifter that lets you "feel" shifts during the more challenging phases of a race. Very different from the needs of the amateur cyclist, which are fully met by standard Ergopower shifters. A bit like the difference between gear changes on a racing car and a luxury saloon: the former brusquer and the latter softer and more silent.

The special Ergopowers will be identical to standard shifters, apart from the use of very stiff special springs that call for harder effort.

The choice of colour is an obvious link to the world of Italian automobile racing, which has always been characterised by the colour red.
